About Us
Kohs Machine Shop, established in 1937, is a leading welding and machining business situated in downtown Marshfield, Wisconsin. Specializing in MIG, Stick, Tig, and aluminum welding services, we also excel in operating various lathes, mills, a shear, two apron brakes, a press brake, and a roller for material forming. Our Past
It is not a well-known fact that Kohs Machine Shop has been around for almost a century. In 1937 Alfred L. Kohs purchased Kuethe and Kuehl Machine and Pattern Shop in the town of Marshfield. He changed the name to Kohs Machine Shop which it still operates under. By the 1940s Al, had created a well-known machine shop, around this time the business filled out government contracts during World War II. In 1966 Kohs Machine Shop purchased the former Lang and Scharman Foundry and moved in that same year. The former building was sold to the city and is now the location of the police station parking lot. In the 1980s the shop had eight people employed and had 20 state of the art machines. At this time the shop was ran by William Kohs until his unexpected death in 1983. It was then purchased by his nephew Jeff Will who still owns the business to this day. The business was associated with the machine shop K&K Sporting Goods, was the Toro Dealership and repair shop, as well as a partnership with Lenox Furnace in the 40s and 50s. Kohs Machine Shop has also helped many businesses in the Marshfield area by renting out portions of the building. From the past to the present, the goal of Kohs has been the same; continue to serve and help the community.

Present
Today, Kohs Machine Shop is working to modernize and improve many of the machines we have as well as growing our business and our name. We currently work out of the original building from 1966 and use many of the machines from the early 1900s. Kohs Machine Shop is a forward-thinking welding and machine shop dedicated to growth and expansion. By focusing on both immediate improvements and long-term strategies, Kohs Machine Shop aims to enhance its service offerings, increase its market presence, and build strong, lasting relationships with clients.
